My client is a South African owned and controlled coal mining and exploration group.
They successfully provide coal to Eskom, other local companies and to the export market. They are currently looking to recruit a HR Director who would require to travel to the mines.

Qual/Exp:
• Relevant tertiary qualification(s)
• MDP, EDP, MBA adv
• Mining or industrial industry background exp
• Human Resources management exp
• Demonstrable understanding of labour legislation
• Demonstrable and working understanding of HR systems, e.g. remuneration, payroll, HR information systems, succession planning, talent development, discipline, grievance, collective bargaining, etc

Skills and Knowledge:
• Demonstrable strategy development skills
• Demonstrable managerial skills (planning, leading, organising, controlling)
• Report writing skills at Board level
• Communication and networking skills at senior level
• Microsoft Office Professional (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project, etc.)

Duties:
• Lead the development and alignment of the people strategy with the business strategy
• Lead the development, execution and implementation of the people strategy
• Implement strategies to ensure positive employee relations, employee support for business strategy and no preventable industrial action
• Lead the execution and implementation of talent management program
• Lead the reward policies and performance management system
• Custodian of conditions of employment
• Represent the company at external agencies as required
• Participate as an Executive Committee member in the overall management of the company
