Principal Mine Engineer - Coal

Due to this rapid and sustained expansion of their Brisbane and Central Queensland based operations they seek a Principal Engineer to drive growth and develop long term strategies for their Global Business. They also provide a highly competitive salary and bonus package well above the industry average. The Principal Consultant’s role is paramount to the future growth of the business. To be successful in this role you will need to draw on your vast network within the Australian Mining industry to expand commercial interests as well as identifying new business development opportunities throughout the Asia Pacific region. The Principal Consultant will also manage the professional technical services department and will be tasked with building the team in line with current business growth strategies. Specific responsibilities will include: •Management of strategic long-term life of mine plans, medium and short-term planning and mining engineering activities; • Evaluating short-term mine plans with consultants to maximise the effectiveness of services provided to clients; • Continuously build and develop a proactive and proficient technical services division; • Contribute to identifying new clients and prospective mining opportunities; • Management of mine designs for new sites and the expansion of existing operations; • Initiate and lead concept, pre-feasibility and feasibility studies; • Lead analysis of Project KPI’s including capital cost, operating cost, current phase budget, NVP/ROI, Schedule and project risk; • Drive due diligence and economic evaluations for sales and acquisitions; • Research and recommend optimal procurement strategies; • Provide clients with detailed contractor options; • Advise on Vendor selection for major mine equipment; • Deliver optimisation studies optimising resources and maximising the life of client mines. Experience and skills required: To be successful in this role you will have 10 years experience in delivering successful projects from mine concept, through feasibility to mine operation in a consulting or mine owner environment. You will have demonstrated ability in maximising value early on in project development and have wide-ranging experience on capital intensive and long lifecycle projects within the Australian coal mining sector. Your experience will also include detailed engineering, procurement and construction management within the coal mining industry.
