Description:My client a major mining company with sites both in North America and Internationally have opportunities for qualified mining and structural engineers. NOTE: YOU MUST BE ABLE TO RELOCATE ANYWHERE IN THE SOUTHWEST U.S. - PLEASE DO NOT APPLY IF RELOCATION IS NOT AN OPTION.Under general supervision, performs complex mining planning functions related to the optimal development and production for North American Sites. Facilitates and participates with site staff to identify and evaluate development and production options. Develops complex mining plans based on all available geological information to support short and/or long range planning and production goals. Participates in engineering feasibility studies to define proper mining methods, equipment selection, mine site facilities, capital and operating costs, and manpower and production requirements. Prepares detailed ore reserve estimates. Optimize pit designs and ore reserves to minimize stripping ratio and maximize profit. Recommends course of action designed to eliminate potential production problems and to improve safety, operational efficiency, control production costs and protect the environment. Work with geologists in exploration and assist in the engineering phase of developments and operational activities. In collaboration with supervisor determine scheduling, manpower, capital and equipment requirements to meet objectives. May represent the site on company sponsored steering teams, such as PDMC mill operations, refinery operations, etc. Performs other duties as required. Qualifications/Minimum Requirements: Bachelors degree in Mining or Geological Engineering; advanced degree Preferred. Seven or more years mining engineering experience. Knowledge of the principles and practices of engineering and associated economic analysis. Able to research and analyze information of considerable difficulty and draw valid conclusions. Skilled in managing large, complex engineering projects. Able to evaluate and implement new methods and techniques for operational improvement. Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions. Skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge and use of mine planning software: MineSight or equivalent. Knowledge and use of optimized scheduling software: NPVS or equivalent. Knowledge and use of SQL Database software. Knowledge and use of computer programming software: Visual Fortran, Visual Basic.
