In reporting to the Marketing & Capital Sales Director, the successful incumbent will be responsible to travel 60-70% to destinations within Africa, USA & Canada. Responsible to professionally represent the company by interacting with Executive Management & operations with a focus on U/G mining machinery The role is exciting yet demanding, requiring a self motivated, driven and passionate individual.

Job Description
Developing and executing strategies to develop and grow the company's market share in underground soft rock within the mining markets in Africa
Enhancing focus in Africa to sell original underground soft rock equipment with the set organization goals in mind
Leading, managing & coordinating the marketing and service initiatives in the market with regards to the underground products
Analyzing the mining market within Africa with the aim of developing a business development plan with identifying key opportunities & product requirements, key customers, markets & countries, critical success factors and market segments/pricing
Coordinate and execute all aspects relating to the underground product line for Africa, particularly sales, marketing & service and also ensuring coordination with manufacturing, supply chain, engineering & global mining product teams.
Directing the response of all major quote requests which includes corporate margin calculation and making recommendations to the management team on strategies to pursue to ensure success with major proposals
Enhance key relationships with: Executives, decision makers at major mining houses/operations, Operational managers, Internal company departments such as accounting & finance, engineering and manufacturing teams, Product management and product service teams.
Addressing problems this role may encounter: Pricing, delivery, contract issues, warranties & sales concessions whilst keeping in mind all these have an effect on the companies relationships with their customers. Therefore ensure customer satisfaction and consistently brainstorming and applying creativity as required with each unique situation.
Creating change and momentum in the local organization to support new products and markets
Developing structures, metrics and framework to evaluate sales distribution channels which includes forecasting, delivery and customer relationships
Dealing with confidential information such as terms and conditions, contracts/agreements, product and service pricing & sales/marketing strategies
Developing and managing a budget for the holder of this position
Compiling tenders, contracts & pricing
Familiarizing with the companys products whilst identifying strengths and weaknesses and major sales opportunities
Creating strategies with targets to enter and grow the companys presence on the market share and service capacity
Execution of the required actions and tactics to achieve the goals of the underground market entry and development/growth
Working with the commercial and product managers to provide pricing to the customers
Collaborating with the manufacturing, services, supply chain, commercial, marketing & engineering prospects
Complete quotes, execute contracts and updating salesforce whist engaging in negotiations and any other sales & servicing relating activities
Working closely with the Product Management to help define product plans which influence the NPD
Completing market studies based on the African market indicators
Travelling to customer sites as required based on sales calls
Action post mortems on losses, follow ups and customers with build relationships where needed
Participate in departmental strategies and planning sessions
Networking, building relationships and entertaining customers after normal working hours
Working with the local product managers and developing the required product improvements and changes for the African market
Identifying any company shortcomings and executing a plan with the team to remove any defects
Developing budgets/forecasts & preparing individual sales budgets and targets in conjunction with regional partners
Reviewing prices, margins & budgets whilst conducting performance reviews and score cards based on results
Minimum Requirements
Undergraduate/Relevant tertiary degree in Mining, Engineering, Business Administration
Masters of Business Administration preferred
Around 10 years experience in sales & marketing within an mining environment or related heavy industry
The ability to work in an underground environment with U/G experience - non negotiable
MS Office suite proficiency with awareness of financial and accounting practice
Experience in underground soft rock mining activities an added advantage
Judgement and a good instinct acquired through experience in large capital sale is considered an added advantage
Multi tasking skills and prioritising with the ability to influence and provide leadership whilst mentoring and training without direct supervisory
Solid sales track record within the mining sector, covering international travel
Valid driver's licence
