This position is responsible for the design, coordination and implementation of training programs at the surface mine operation.

Responsibilities of this position include the following:

Develop, implement and coordinate surface mine training programs (equipment operation, maintenance and journeyman level positions).
Provide hands-on training and assistance to employees in training programs. Works with employees in training programs to gain knowledge and skills necessary to obtain required certifications and successfully pass equipment, maintenance and journeyman level skills testing requirements.
Evaluate and monitor progress and competency of employees in training programs.
Maintains and ensures efficient, organized record keeping for all employees participating in various training programs.
Provide supervision, direction, instruction and assistance to employees when performing equipment operations, maintenance and journeyman level work.
Ensure that training of employees is done in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with MSHA regulations (i.e., ground control plans, task training), company policy, and company training programs.
Coordinate evaluation teams and activities involved with the testing of internal and external candidates for equipment operations, maintenance and journeyman level positions.
Ensure compliance with the collective bargaining agreement in the area of training. Participates as an active member of the Training Task Force per the CBA.
Develop, implement and coordinates continuous training (i.e., new equipment) in the areas of safe operation, best practices, AVRPs, etc.
Perform other duties as assigned such as acting as a front-line supervisor, assisting other departments with their training needs, etc.

Requirements for this position include the following:

Bachelors degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
A minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience in mine operations and operation of surface mining heavy equipment. Experience related to haulage trucks, dozers, scrapers, motor graders, loaders, large drills are essential.
Working knowledge of surface mining/maintenance methods, operations and procedures.
Must possess Wyoming State Foreman's Certification or be able to obtain within a one (1) year period
Leadership and teamwork skills to develop and promote cooperative working relationships with other shifts and among departments.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to manage and motivate employees and work collaboratively with other departments.
Ability to teach and hold others accountable for adhering to set standards.
Demonstrated leadership/supervisory skills.
Knowledge of companys strategic plan, objectives for specific area, as well as company policies, procedures, and practices and applicable federal, state and local government laws and regulations.
Ability to make task lists, prioritize and utilize management resources to effectively assign and implement action plans for achieving objectives.
Basic computer skills including e-mail, word processing and spreadsheets
Preferences: Experience with bargaining unit requirements and collective bargaining agreement
